DEEP WORK - REVIEW

In the book Deep Work By Cal Newport, Newport emphasizes the importance of unbreakable concentration upon work, in other words, he shows the importance of deep work and the ways to cultivate this ability. Shallow work, on the other hand, means easiely replicable work done often while distracted, for example, scrolling your Facebook page. In today's distracted world, the few who cultivate deep work in thier schedule get more work done than those who do not cultivate this ability. Deep work is a very important ability, but the value of deep work is getting forgotten by today's information economy. The bottom line impact shallow work causes is very hard to measure. Because it is hard to measure these metrics, Newport calls it the 'Metric Black Hole'. If the metric black hole didn't exist, the bottom line impact shallow work causes would be easiely measurable. The metic black hole prevents this clarity and this is one of the reasons why deep work is getting forgotten by today's information economy. Deep work is getting increasingly valuable and is also becoming increasingly rare at the same time. Deep work not only increases productivity but also promotes a better, much happier life. Newport explain's this in the 3rd chapter of part 1, Deep Work Is Meaningful. According to Gallagher's grand theory of the mind, who you are, what you think, feel and do, what you love - is the sum of what you focus on. This means that by skillfully managing your attention, you can improve your world without changing anything concrete about it. If we cultivate deep work and if we spend enough time in this state, our mind will understand the world as rich in meaning and importance. Newport show's some rules to follow to promote deep work in your proffesional life. Our will power is limited for our day and we must try our best to use it in our work. If you burn out your will power for the day then it is going to be very hard to concentrate on work. If your interested in buying this book then you can click this link: Buy the book "Deep Work"
